The Inspiring Story of This Couple Who Quit Their Jobs to Travel

Aircraft aviator Hugh Glass and his writer wife, Grace Dove recently quit their jobs for the love of globetrotting. Life has become awesome ever since, says the young couple.

Glass, who was working with an India-based private airline reveals how he was fed up of the stench of food the company served. “It defied the saneness of my taste buds. A number of times I almost threw up” says the aviator.

His wife, on the other hand, was working with an IT giant that handed her a bagful of peanut skins at the end of every month. “We could survive if we even had the peanuts. We could have sold them and made some money. But, who’d buy skins?” Dover laments.

We could survive if we even had the peanuts. We could have sold them and made some money. But, who’d buy skins?

Although belonging to different lines of work, the couple had one thing in common – a vague idea about ‘travel.’ While Glass kept flying from one place to another without actually making it any beyond the airports, his wife often hopped locations on corporate tours never seeing the daylight beyond the board meeting rooms.

However, both were prompt in updating their Facebook statuses and posting pictures on Instagram with all possible hashtags, lest the perfection of their life was questioned.

But enough was enough. One day, their patience was tested too far when the Indian CEO of Glass’s company, deemed a ‘willful defaulter’ by the country’s government and accused of money laundering, sacked the 32-year old aviator.

The entire financial burden now being dumped on his wife’s shoulder, she turned to her company hoping for some help and demanded an increment of two more bags full of peanut skins. Her demand was immediately responded with one bagful of peanut shells this time.

Glass was sacked and Dove got peanut shells as her increment.

Not being able to stand the injustice, the duo gave up their jobs and decided to explore their long-subdued urge to see the world. Thus began an inspiring journey of two souls bitter with the mundane life and looking forward to making some great, golden memories.

“The initial days were extremely difficult,” recollects Grace Dove. “We didn’t have much money and couldn’t afford a hotel stay every time. So, we wanted to start with India first. At least in the worst case, we could sleep and beg on the streets of the country. We had already heard so much about the country. The stories of those small time Indian beggars-turned-millionaires are very popular in our country.”

Her husband quips, “My only concern was some rich, drunk brat running us over with his car in the dark of the night. You know, even if we survived and knocked the doors of the law, there was no way we stood a chance to win the case.”

“If some rich, drunk brat ran us over with his car and even if we survived, there was no way we could hope for justice.”

However, despite all the hardships, the duo set forth  to chase their dream and finally landed in India. “Because we started with Delhi, we immediately hired a horse to travel around. What if all odd or even numbered cars decided not to show up on a certain day? There would be no means of transport. So, we thought it is better not to take a risk.”

“We hired a horse so that we could travel in Delhi without the odd-even drama ruining our travel plans.”

Kolkata was on their itinerary next. “Because we didn’t know the routes and were already running out of money to even pay for mobile Internet, we were heavily reliant on the free Wi-Fi available. But, after a few minutes of use, the signals started troubling.”

“Thankfully, a girl wearing a pixie haircut immediately came to our rescue. She asked us to participate in a certain challenge by a certain telecom company and promised to get our bills paid for a lifetime if we won. We did and till this point of time, we have not paid a single phone bill by ourselves!”

The couple has travelled across the country and seen almost every corner of it. From the greens of the northeast to the deserts of Rajasthan, from the gurgling waters of Kanyakumari to the snow in Kashmir – they have seen it all.

“The only thing that we found strange was that we didn’t see a single Indian. Everywhere we went, we met people who were Punjabis, Gujaratis, Marathis, Bengalis, Assamese, Tamilians, Malayalis, Konkanis, Biharis, Jharkhandis, Odias, Khasis, Nagas, Manipuris, Mizos, Tripuris, and what not!”

The country has been very welcoming nevertheless, reveal the couple globetrotters. As of now, the duo is trying to improve their situation by imparting sex education in different schools. The media is already byte-hungry about their endeavour, they say. “This is a first-of-its-kind attempt by any foreigner in the country till date, given the censor-heavy syllabuses that are proposed.”

“Financial instability is always there. But, it no longer bothers us. The moment we witness a scenic beauty somewhere in the country, we shout out a WOW and forget all our worries, hunger, and hardship.”

Kudos to this adorable couple! They say they found their motivation in the many travel blogs that mention how important it is to quit jobs and travel to gain wisdom. We wish them all the luck and look forward to hearing more travel tales from them in the future.

Must say, this person is a gem. Very recently, he rose to fame (?) by dint of his number ‘Angel.’ Taher Shah, the ‘sensational’ singer from Pakistan has been garnering massive responses ever since.

Here are a few comments from his Facebook page:

You should get the Nobel prize of literature for writing so deep lyrics and academy award for this even deeper video. What a genius you are. In next video also show some body and people will forget Salman khan.

I was watching this when my parents walked into my room. I immediately switched over to porn because it was more explainable.

This song saved my life, i was in coma , someone played this song on radio, i woke up from the coma , walk towards radio and switched off the radio. (via ANAND BHAI FROM MUNNA BHAI MBBS )

Reportedly, actor Hrithik Roshan dedicated a song of Mr. Shah to fellow actor Ranveer Singh tweeting ‘One day I want you to outdo this!’ Ranveer, too, accepted the challenge and recorded a dubsmash video featuring him syncing to the song. The video received more than 1.9 million views in just a couple of days. It’s tough to ascertain if the popularity was because of Taher Shah or Ranveer Singh.

While the other two are overly famous, there’s this guy from Assam who could put even Rajinikanth to shame. He is an action superstar. He is the producer, director, actor, singer, and dancer in his own films. Mr Rajkumar has attained a cult status in the state and is awaiting his fame across the country and beyond.

He is the maker of movies like ‘Criminal Hunter,’ ‘Animal Killer,’ ‘Super Master,’ and ‘Terrorist Enter My House.’ Presently, he doesn’t have a YouTube account of his own. But, you can subscribe to the accounts of those who devotedly upload his ‘sensible’ movies.

Here’s what people are saying about his movies:

10/10 from me brilliant movie, Batman v Superman looks like shit in front of it.
